History
Junior Achievement Worldwide (JAW) is a global nonprofit organization financed by local businesses and other agencies/institutions. Established in 1919 in USA, Junior Achievement programs to this date are implemented in 113 countries around the world, involving close to 9 million students per year. In Europe, there are 38 JA countries (as well in Serbia) engaging over 2,9 million students.
Objective of JA’s programs is to educate and inspire youth in entrepreneurship, economics and in business. These programs are designed to partner together local businesspeople and schools by volunteering their time to educate the concepts of the programs in order to help students understand economic literacy, business skills, and enterprise and entrepreneurship skills. Junior Achievement Serbia (JAS) brings the real world to students and opens their minds to their potential, and encourages, prepare and empower young people to succeed in a knowledge-based economy. JAS is one of the Member Nations in the global net of JAW that started with program activities in Serbia in October, 2002. From 2005, JAS is registered as a non-profit, non-governmental organization.
