A Record Number of Participants at the Nis Business Challenge!

The idea of a company whose employees would be young homeless people who would take care of the old won the first prize at the regional entrepreneurship competition of high school students from Southeastern Serbia, which was held on the 17th November in Nis. The total of 134 students from 23 secondary schools from Prokuplje, Knjazevac, Aleksinac, Leskovac, Surdulica, Zajecar, Nis, Kursumlija, Medvedja, Vucja, Vlasotince and Pirot, had the opportunity to compete and demonstrate their knowledge of entrepreneurship and business skills at the greatest Business challenge so far. This time, students were given the task to create a lucrative company whose business objective is solving a certain social problem. Teams of six students from different schools, with the help of business volunteers, had 5 hours to create a business plan in response to the "challenge".

The jury consisted of: Mr. Robert Osborne (Osborne Group Vice President), Mr. Dagfinn Moe (director of the Danish support programme for the production of berries in Southern Serbia), Mr. Vladimir Mladenovic (coordinator of the Regional Youth Office, Niš), Mr. Bratislav Stamenkovic (Agribusiness Project Manager in Nis) and Mr. Nikola Pejovic (director of Erste Bank's commercial center in Nis). They gave the highest number of votes to the following teams:

The competition "Business Challenge" is implemented by the organization "Junior Achievement Serbia" and funded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia, the company Telekom Srbija j.s.c., the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC).
