ANNUAL MEETING OF JAS STUDENTS & TEACHERS

REPORT FROM THE JAS STUDENTS & TEACHERS ANNUAL MEETING HELD AT THE MOUNTAIN RESORT JASTREBAC (JULY 24 - 31 2005)

The Junior Achievement has ended its study-year 2004-2005 with the annual meeting of students and teachers participating in the Program implementation. This already appears to be a sort of tradition (after a similar meeting a year ago being held at the Soko Banja health resort. Namely, after the end of each annual school cycle, it has been established as a sort of tradition that the most active program implementation participants at both the teaching and studying sides are being invited to spend few days together for the sake of summing-up experiences & identify both the achievements and possible weaknesses, to distribute or be awarded with some symbolic rewards & acknowledgements to the most succesful students and teachers, etc. etc.

This year, the meeting has taken place during the last week of July at the mountainh resort of Jastrebac, at the hotel "Merima - Henkel" near the town of Krusevac . The meeting has been attended also by 17 MESE teams, i.e. by 34 students. Joining them, there were their teachers-instructors, as well as those teachers who did not have their students competing in the national finals of MESE competition, but yet have overwhelmingly deserved to be present at the annual meeting through their other specific and/or overall teaching achievements.

Among the most important goals of this annual gathering of students and teachers has been that the teams of students, selected as representatrives of the best students' companies from all regions of Serbia , get an opportunity to demonstrate to each-others their entrepreneurial achievements (business-like and other results of their student companies' activities) - but also to exchange mutually their experiences and acquire the new useful knowledge. Hence, during the 7 days of gathering together, the students have had an opportunity to attend the course on the topic of :"The application of IT technology in marketing", then, to attend several workshops on the issues like: communications, developing the presentation capacities, etc.

Also the study visits have been organized to the nearby located major companies, like: "Merima- Henkel" and "Trayal", where students have had the opportunities of visiting all industrial units constituting the specific technological processes in two major factories, one for hygienic chemicals processing, and the other for the motor vehicles' tyres production. They also have had the opportunity to discuss with the management representatives of those companies. Also, the municipal authority of the town of Krusevac also, together with the regional SME agency, have organized a meetiing with the visiting students ant their teachers where regional plans and prospects for small business ane entrepreneurial opporunities were presented.

The teachers for themselves had a part of their own study program, which included the improvemnet of computer operation knowledge, as well as attending the workshops on the issues related to improval of the communication skills, strenghtening the sense for team-work, etc. Of cause, there was also some time for companionship and entertainment that the JAS people by themselves have organized and made sensible.

At the end, the winners have been proclaimed: First, for the aggregate students' entrepreneurial achievements and a major contribution to the JAS developments, as the winning students' company has been proclaimed the company "Agricola" from the Aleksandrovac school "Saint Triphon" for agricultural technicians (Mentor: Ms.Dragana Bogojevic) The second place has been won by the "Arena" company, from the Leskovac Gymnasium (Mentor: Mr. Bojan Aleksic); and the place has been won by the company "Orion" from Ivanjica Gymnasium (Mentor: Dusica Sofijanic).

The title of the "JAS leader" for the study year 2004-2005, has been won by Nemanja Glavinic, from Ivanjica students'company "Orion"; for the JAS business girl of the year has been proclaimed Milena Djurdjanovic from Nis (the students' company: "Colpo di fulmine", while the best knowledge in applied economics has been shown by Bojan Zivadinovic from the students' company "Gardener" from Aleksinac.
