Workshop for Teachers / Mentors for Conducting JA Programs in Secondary Schools

From December 14 to 18, 2008, JAS has delivered Instructive Workshop for training secondary school teachers in performing JA-educational programs in Serbia. The workshop is supported by SCOPES, program financed by USAID and implemented in 7 municipalities in South and South-West Serbia. The Workshop took place in the premises of “Merkur” Hotel, within the Vrnjacka Banja Spa. It was attended by altogether 29 teachers from 20 secondary schools covering the territory of the following 7 municipalities: Prijepolje, Medvedja, Bujanovac, Presevo, Kursumlija, Novi Pazar and Kraljevo.
Throughout that intensive workshop, there have been used the elaborate teaching methods of the Junior Achievement Worldwide, and also, those activities have been conducted by the very well trained instructors - while the teaching material was distributed to all teachers attending the seminar.
The workshop was facilitated by two experienced JAS coordinators Ms. Dragana Bogojević (teacher from Aleksandrovac) and Ms. Ljiljana Ašković (teacher from Obrenovac). The lectures on the JAS program have also been delivered by the JAS Executive Director, Zvonko Brnjas and JAS Program Manager, Irena Komazec.
The guests at the seminary have been also the representatives of secondary school "Šumatovac” from Aleksinac, among who was also teacher Vučina Miletić, who has been acting as the JAS program mentor for almost four years now. He has delivered an interesting presentation on the activities and results of the student company named "The Gardener", that has been established by his students. The students of that school have also initiated the production of the good quality soils for planting trees, for which they have been awarded by local community.
At the end of the workshop the participants has been awarded with workshop attendance & the participation certificates which qualified them for performing the JAS subjects: Applied Economics; MESE simulations; and the Students Company.
