MESE World contest (Hewlett Packard Global Business Challenge)

HPGBC (Hewlett Packard Global Business Challenge) is a World contest in making business deccisions through Internet. The event is organized by Junior Achievement International each year in February, and it encompases around 800 High School and University teams throughout the World.

In the contest, companies of students compete as they manufacture and market "EchoPens." EchoPens are computerized pens that remember and reproduce documents written in the past. students assume the roles of corporate managers and make weekly decisions on price, production, marketing, research & development, and plant capacity. They analyze industry reports, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and market conditions before making their decisions and submitting a weekly response. The simulation is based on Junior Achievement’s Management and Economic Simulation Exercise (MESE) software program.

The contest consists of 6 rounds and a final. Each round consists of 7 periods. Only the first ranked teams go into following round.

Global sponsor of the contest is company Hewlett Packard - World leader in information technologies.

Contest finals are held each September in a different city throughout the World. Due to sponsorship of big World companies, the winners of the contest are awarded valuable prizes.
